Once a scarf.. now a head piece

Once again I found myself wanting to do something productive that does not fall under the category of homework. I tried to think of what to make, when I came across an old scarf that I bought my freshman year of college. I think I have worn this scarf maybe... twice. This once forgotten scraf has now been transformed into vintage ear warmers. Yes, this is true. I made ear warmers. Enjoy

Cup of Cheer

.a Cup of Cheer.

For Christmas this year... people get a touch of " the alexandra".
yep that's right, I making my presents...why? because I Can. Ashley Sham. I am so excited for you to open yours. This seems like something you would really enjoy! Ashley actually informed me of this farmers market that runs during the summer in Rexburg, Idaho. While wondering around she stumbled upon a cute little booth where hair pins where hand made and being sold. Because of this tid bit of information, I decided to improvise and see what I could come up with. These are they...

..Merry Chrisrtmas..

Accessorize

PUt It in My HaiR & I'll WeAR it.

I made a dress for my best friends wedding and there was an extra flower. So i made......

Earlier in the summer I was making head dresses for indian costumes. Around this time hair pieces were becoming popular and I hadn't found any that I liked. so my "i can make that" mentality kicked in. Once it was completed my Australian father commented and said that he thought it was ELEGANT. If the man says he likes it then.... i'll take his word for it. His sense of style is exquisite

WAIT... theres more

.......Creations....................................................................................................................................

So I have this knack for making things that I see in stores or in magazines. Why buy, when I can make? I am known for the phrase, "I can make that"...because I can. It seems like such a simple concept. Luckily, I stuck with learning basic sewing skills taught to me by my mother. All those hours having to unpick mistakes has paid off, now making it possible for my to make up my own techniques, trying out new things and inventing as I go. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but they get better with each attempt.

"Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties."

My friend Nicole bought me this fabric at a vintage store in California. She said when she saw it she thought, "Oh, Alex could do something with this." for two years this fabric sat and waited until i decided to make it into a sweater.
-inspiration: roommate She came home with a new sweater....naturally I said, "I can make that" and the vintage fabric from California was finally put to good use.

59 cents: YES PLEASE.....

I found this yellow fabric in the scrap section for 59 cents. I had to buy it. Later that night I found a plain shirt in my closet that I never wear and embellished it

I liked the YELLOW shirt so much i made another one...

The First... it began in High School silk screening. This is the first of many... I got the photo from a national geographic magazine and I scanned and manipulated the image into what i wanted. the END RESULT...
